As most of you know, San Diego Comic-Con, the one con to rule them all, is underway and this afternoon we got a brand new trailer for the SYFY and USA Network joint venture Chucky from Child’s Play creator Don Mancini.
As we previously learned from the series’ official synopsis on IMDb: After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets.
Entertainment Weekly today added: Friends and foes from Chucky’s past creep back into his world and threaten to expose the truth behind his mysterious origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.
This lines up with a lot of what we’ve learned about the series so far. Franchise regulars Brad Dourif, Fiona Dourif and Jennifer Tilly are in the line-up for the series along with Alex Vincent and Kimberly Elise who return to reprise their roles of Andy and Kyle, respectively. Horror fans will also spot Devon Sawa from the first Final Destination film in the trailer.
The new trailer puts young actor Zackary Arthur front and center as Jake Webber, a young gay kid who finds himself at the mercy of bullies after the death of his mother. Chucky naturally latches onto the boy’s pain as he prepares for what he calls the “world series of slaughter.” The trailer has all the elements of a classic Child’s Play film which makes Chucky a must-see for 80s horror fans.
Chucky is set to premiere on October 12, 2021 at 10 pm EST on USA and SYFY. Check out the trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be watching in the comments!
